Remote areas of the Serengeti.
We are operating our walks inside wilderness and rhino protection zones where few others are allowed. We have vast, untouched wilderness to explore in solitude. These remote areas mainly consist of gentle rolling hills with small streams, springs in the valleys and small grassland plains surrounded by sparse acacia forests. Big granite outcrops called kopjes give the area a great feel and look.
Witness wildebeest migration.
Being an area of varied eco-zones and vegetation types the Serengeti is home to all of Africa’s mammals and a huge variety of birds, reptiles and insects. A fair amount of wildlife is resident in the area all year round, due to permanent springs. We seasonally move our walking operations to co-inside with the wildebeest migration. Walks are under-taken by specially trained guides and national park rangers who carry rifles for safety reasons.
Generally your day will start with a light breakfast to get you walking around 06:30h. Our camp cook will prepare a packed breakfast that will be enjoyed on a rock or next to a stream somewhere out there. Your guide will aim to have you back in camp before it is too hot for a sit down lunch. Afternoons are generally spent like the animals with eyes closed in a shady place. As the day cools down you set off on a shorter afternoon walk to enjoy an African sunset.
Sample Walking Itinerary
Itineraries will vary depending on the seasons. The beauty of our walking camps is that they follow the Migration but this does mean our locations change frequently. Trips can be as long or as short as you like and prices vary depending on the season. You can drive or fly into camp depending on your desired itinerary.
Kilimanjaro Airport – Hotel in Arusha
After arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be welcomed by our tour guide, will be holding a poster with your name and transfer you to Arusha (45-60 minutes). The guide will transfer you to Arusha city one of the fascinating touristic towns in Tanzania. Depending on the time of arrival one can explore the town by the help of a local guide.
The Arusha Town is known as the safari capital of the world but it is often overlooked in favor of its more glamorous, better known neighbors – Serengeti, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater.
