Dar Es Salaam - Serengeti National Park
Fly from Daresalaam International airport or Arusha airport to Serengeti National Park/SeroneraAirstrip. Arrive just before the sun sets over the vast Serengeti Plains. Dinner and overnight: Serengeti MatawiCamp.
Option 1:Be one of only a few fortunate people to glide in a Hot Air Balloon over the Serengeti Plains (available at supplementary cost by pre-arrangement). Floating silently above the awakening bush, while spotting wildlife and enjoying the amazing scenery of Africa, across rivers and over numerous small villages.
Option 2:We do an after breakfast game viewing drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which loops into the plains south of the Seronera River, and which is good for possible Lion, Thomson gazelle, topi, ostrich, and cheetah sightings. The Visitor Centre close to the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites is well worth a visit after the morning’s game drive. This nicely designed center offers some interesting wildlife displays as well as a gift shop selling information leaflets and maps of the area. The center also has a shop where cold drinks and snacks can be purchased, as well as a picnic area and information trail up and around a nearby kopje. We will enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch at the center in the shade of the giant acacia trees. In the afternoon we will follow the Kopjes Circuit, which goes anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, which usually attract a number of lions and some formidably large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops, scattered around the plains, most of which are miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. This makes the kopjes particularly good for spotting wildlife in the dry seasons – including lions, which like to lie in wait for animals coming to drink!
Dinner and overnight: Serengeti Matawi Camp.
Relax with a full day in the Serengeti with game drives-unequaled for its beauty and home to the Great Wildebeest Migration. The huge of plains game such as wildebeest, Zebra, and antelope dominate the park while the attendant predators such as lion and cheetah are to the found amongst the many Kopjes scattered across the plain. Its landscape varies from open grass plains in the south, savanna with scattered acacia trees in the center, hilly, wooded grassland in the north to extensive woodland and black clay to the west. Dinner and overnight:
Matawi Serengeti Camp
Serengeti Full Day
Walking in Serengeti plains on an amazing safari experience.
Generally, your day will start with a heavy breakfast to get you walking around. We will leave the lodge with packed lunch that will be enjoyed at the picnic site or under one of the trees somewhere out there. Walking in Tanzania is completely different from game driving. On foot, you are a participant in the world of wildlife rather than a spectator, a thrilling and unbeatable safari experience.
Feel, hear and smell Tanzania
Imagine, you walk on the same path as the elephants and other wildlife, you feel the wind through your hair, hear a lion roar in the distance and smell the bush and wildlife. Your senses awaken, as you become part of your environment and the wilderness becomes more real.
Wildlife up close and personal
While animals will generally ignore you in a vehicle, they see you as another type of animal when you are on foot. Getting up close and personal with wildlife is definitely a rush of excitement. Walking is also a great way to appreciate the smaller wildlife, which can’t be so easily seen from a vehicle.
Access remote areas on foot
On foot, you can walk into remote areas and reach places that a safari car can’t. Once on foot, you are not constrained by roads and can go almost anywhere you like. Away from the crowds, off the beaten track it offers you freedom incomparable to any game drive safari. Afternoons are generally spent like the animals with eyes closed in a shady place. Explore the Serengeti on foot. Get closer to nature than ever before and discover undisturbed wildlife and enjoy the serenity of the environment on a beautiful walking safari in the Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at KubuKubu tented Lodge.
